"A not-for-profit Association building a reputation for QUALITY in the Breton Holiday Cottage Market"

WHAT IS TRISKEL -ENSURED?

TRISKEL-ENSURED is an Association of proprietors of holiday cottages which are available for rental in Brittany. The members of the Association are determined to ensure that a defined standard of quality, regardless of the accommodation price and facilities, is maintained.

Members of the Triskel-Ensured Association have agreed to abide by a prescribed set of standards and are thus entitled to display the Triskel-Ensured logo on their advertising material. To continue their membership, members’ accommodation is reviewed and checked by other members on a regular basis.

The Triskel-Ensured Association is a not-for-profit organisation and the accounts of the Triskel-Ensured Association are available to all the members.

SO WHAT FOR THE PROPRIETOR?

Over the last 2 or 3 holiday seasons, there have been a number of reported instances concerning holiday cottages which have been found to be clearly not up to the standard and quality claimed in advertisements. This is leading to a growing disillusionment amongst potential visitors to Brittany and is believed to be partly responsible for the drop in the numbers of British holidaymakers to Brittany. (ref: “les Britanniques en Bretagne”, seminar at the University de Bretagne Sud, 2/2/06). It is for this reason that TRISKEL-ENSURED has been formed: to assist in the re-establishment of the reputation of quality and value for money in the Breton holiday cottage market place.

Members of the Association are entitled to display the Triskel-Ensured logo on their advertising material, thereby enhancing their business prospects and increasing the occupancy level of their properties.

The display of the Triskel-Ensured Association symbol will give the holidaymaker a greater degree of confidence in the standard of the accommodation that is being booked.

The Association strongly recommends that members should forward a copy of the inventory of their property to the holidaymaker with the confirmation of booking. This simple action has been found to reduce any misunderstandings and possible subsequent complaints.

AND WHAT FOR THE HOLIDAYMAKER?

When you book your holiday through a Triskel-Ensured proprietor, you will be assured that the property has no misleading descriptive text or photos in the advertising. ‘What you see, is what you get!’ An inventory which has been agreed between the Triskel-Ensured Association and the proprietor will have been adhered to and will include important items such as an adequate number of seats, beds, crockery, cutlery etc. to cater for the occupancy level advertised.

The Triskel-Ensured Association encourages holidaymakers to record their opinions by email, both positive and negative, following their holiday. If negative feedback is received, be assured that the proprietor and all other members of the Triskel-Ensured Association will be notified. All positive feedback will be communicated in the same manner.

The Association strongly recommends that before confirming your booking, you should contact the property owner and satisfy yourself that you know the answers to the following questions, which cover the aspects of a property most often found to be inadequate.

1 What kitchen and cooking facilities are there?
2 Is there enough garden furniture to enable all to eat outside and is the BBQ large enough?
3 How far away are the nearest shopping facilities by foot/bike/car?
4 Is there adequate seating in the lounge?
5 Will the cottage have been cleaned immediately prior to our arrival and what are the cleaning arrangements when we leave?
6 If the property has a pool: is the swimming pool child-safe: does it comply with the French safety regulations?
7 Can you send a copy of the equipment inventory and will it have been checked before we arrive?
8 Is there a key-holder available in case of problems?
9 Are there adequate parking facilities close to the property?
10 What heating facilities are there and is there an additional charge for usage?
